For a quick little weekend project, I decided to do a 'side by side' build of both of Bandai's "First Order" TIE Fighter kits from "The Force Awakens"
Start with a quick look at the sprues from the regular TIE
Then, a look at the contents for the "Special Forces" version
Started with the cockpits.
I painted the interiors with Vallejo light grey primer, followed by a black wash.
The pilots were drybrushed with gunmetal
With the cockpits built, the main sections were buttoned up.
The only exterior painting was done on the Special Forces version, where I painted in the thrusters with gunmetal
Built up the panels kit stock, then gave the black parts of the entire model a drubrush of gunmetal to bring out detail since my normal wash wouldn't show on the black plastic.
Finished build pics-First Order TIE Fighter
Finished build pics-First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter
The two together
The two with an Imperial TIE Fighter
The two with the TIE X-1
