1:72 Hasegawa F-105D

I tried to do a "fade" as a part of the weathering. It's the first time I've tried this technique, I really thinned some light sand coloured paint, and sprayed (at a low pressure) select areas on top of the airframe. Like anytime trying something new, sometimes it pays-off big, sometimes it's a complete wreckage; this time was in between. The fade looks a little over done to me. I knew it wasn't on the subtle spectrum when my wife who knows almost nothing about wengy-things pronounced it "nice and cartoony looking"...

I might still do a little more, detail painting wise. I also still have to seal in some of the chalk weathering with some flat coat. But outside of that this F-105 is pretty much done.

Until I get some proper reveal pictures done, here's where I at.

Looks real good!

Regarding the fading; Have you seen any pics of any USAF planes with the SEA camo scheme? The SEA sun blazing down on said aircraft really faded the paint. I mean really faded it. If anything you didn't fade it enough! Regardless, it still is an awesome paint job.

Thanks a lot Q, CDA 455 and rookie. :)

I finished the wingtip lights, the bullpups, and a few detail painting odds and ends today. I'm calling this on done.
Thanks for following along. I got lazy with the pictures, it was slightly cloudy so I just took them outside in the back yard on a scrap of cardboard.

Next up? I plan to keep chipping away at my current WiP pile. Next thread will be a Ta 183.

Thanks hilld & Q. :)
This week I thought I might still make a base for this...

Very nice, I think you did an outstanding job on your Thud, knowing how old this kit is the emphases has to be on the exterior with the paint and markings; it ain't in the cockpit or wheel wells! It really looks like most photos I've seen of Vietnam 105s, war-wary yet still moving.
I was taken aback a bit when I saw those ejector pin marks right on the canopy! :-X Oooo, not good and certainly dates those molds to the mid-60s for sure! Unacceptable in any era, good to see it was fixed!!
The reverse pre-shading trick was neat, worked out quite well and hope I remember that technique. Overall, a fine bit work.

Thanks King57 and Cash. :)

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, considering the age of the kit. Sometime soon I'd like to build the Trumpeter 1:72 F-105D.

Thanks for the link billkunert. I had not seen that walk around; bookmarked. :)
