Update time, and now with pics!
Firstly, this is apparently a very old kit, parts of it older than I am ('78).
Lots of ejector pin marks on this, so got me some Mr. Surfacer to try out. So far a decent and easy to work with filler.
I ended up breaking the shifter stick off while trying to scrape mold lines off, oops!
The plow has some nice details
I bought a PE set of wipers, not sure if I like them and we'll see how they look. They're rather thin, I'm thinking I might need to double up on them to get a realistic look
Also bought a distributor kit for the engine
The tires for this are kinda crappy, with nasty mold lines, used my dremel to grind them down a bit
Put a gloss coat on the wheels before the alclad
I think they turned out nice, glad I finally got the nasty factory chrome stripped off
The grille and bumpers also turned out nice
Here's the engine with the distributor kit, not sure what that other cylindrical piece is for...I'm not a car guy and know nothing about truck engines
Tires and wheels assembled, I'm going to make the rims look nasty and dirty
Distributor installed, I think the wire sticking up would go to the alternator? Again, not a car guy. And there is no alternator in this kit either...
Last night I put a coating of AK wash on, and discovered the AK wash dissolves the Alclad lacquer!
Plus any clear coat, like Testors dullcote also dissolves the lacquer paints. I'm still learning the ins and outs of the alclad. What should I use to protect the lacquer from enamel washes?
