    About Ultimate Airbrush Thinner

Ah. I just figured out who you are. Conversation over. I don’t expect any communication from you over on Britmodeller once your ban is over either.

    About Ultimate Airbrush Thinner

Those are pretty funny, those links and all. MLT = Mr. Color Leveling Thinner, as I’ve repeatedly stated throughout this thread. Good for you and your method. I have no doubt that you create beautiful work and whatever method works for you is fine. There’s more than one way to skin a cat.

    About Ultimate Airbrush Thinner

Seriously though. You've never heard of MLT? Unicorn tears? I wasn't talking about having a clean airbrush though of course that's a given and simply good practice, I don't go anywhere near my needle with oil because I don't need fisheyes in my paint. Only a drop in the trigger area. I'm...

    About Ultimate Airbrush Thinner

No, and most of the top modelers in the field agree on one thing - Mr. Color Leveling Thinner is the bees knees, and is better than the proprietary thinners for most any kind of paint except for water based acrylics such as Vallejo (which have ended up in the my trash can).

And yet they still contain up to 50% acetone and 25% butyl acetate (which you’ll find are the two ingredients in Tamiya Extra Thin plastic cement) and also appear in most lacquers, plus a host of other hot chemicals such as xylene. This is an MSDS for Rustoleum High Performance Enamel Spray...

    About Black Aerosol can primer

Your clear primer is a primer, so as long as it’s applied directly to the unpainted surface then it will do it’s job as a primer. Any subsequent paint layers will adhere better to a primer or other another color better than an untreated surface. People do this a lot with metal paints - a...

    About Black Aerosol can primer

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to do. You have a plastic surface, and you want to spray black paint on it, and then a coat of transparent primer, and then spray color over that? I’m not sure why…but a primer’s function (one of them) is to adhere better to the surface than your...

    About Black Aerosol can primer

That kind of defeats the purpose of spraying a primer at all.

About thinning Mr. aqueous surfacer 1500

It will do the job, but not like Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. That goes for Aqueous paints as well.

How to convert tamiya bottled acrylics to tamiya spray

Not just light or dark. Many can just plain be the wrong color. And of course that’s fine if you don’t care - you can choose whatever colors you want. But FS36375 is a specific color. You can buy the color chip and that will be the exact color. Many paints that purport to be FS36375 are not...

About thinning Mr. aqueous surfacer 1500

Yes you can thin with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner, Aqueous Acrylic Thinner or water. You can use hardware store l thinner as well but best to lay it down in thin coats (I assume you’re airbrushing) and give it a minute between so the lacquer has a chance to flash off and evaporate before the next...

How to convert tamiya bottled acrylics to tamiya spray

If two things are true, it’s that a different shade makes for a different color, and many paint manufacturer’s opinions on what constitutes a certain FS # can be radically different. Actually there aren’t many that actually match a Federal Standard paint chip.

Tamiya Paint Database – US Federal Standard Colours

I was being polite. Then you pressed. Luminosity is a property of color, because color with respect to paint is only reflected light off of different pigments. That doesn’t change. If you look at Casey’s measurements that value is determined. It’s called the LRV or Light Reflective Value.
