    My first OSL

-Thanks, I was actually wondering about exactly that! I may hit it with a colored LED around the upper section and see how the light falls, where shadow cores are, etc. and use that to refine the shadows.

    My first OSL

This was a cheap resin kit from eBay, roughly 1/12 scale, hollow cast with no back. I used styrene to make the back plate, otherwise not much prep but sanding and re-boring the hole for the support rod. Most of the paint is drybrushing over a black primer, with some stippling and washes also. I...

    Green Stuff vs. Apoxie?

You're right, maybe I should do a few quick tests. Maybe combine different ratios of Green Stuff and Apoxie, or Green Stuff and Air Clay - weird if they got along. Good idea about the rubber mold/plaster buck. Might work for some of my ideas.

    Green Stuff vs. Apoxie?

Is there a situation in which Green Stuff's flexibility might be beneficial? For example, I've been thinking about making a DIY equivalent of "cast off" clothing for a non-mini figure. Production type figures use cast PVC, because its strong and flexible. Would Green Stuff possibly work well in...

    Canopy glue?

BIG WORDS! Lots of big sciency words! Makes sense though, thanks very much for explaining about the importance of chain length.

    Canopy glue?

-Great vid, thanks for posting. Now I have more questions: Like, why should we spend money on CA accelerants when plain water will also accelerate curing? And...I was under the impression that we should keep our accelerant and CA glue very separated (Mine are in the same bin but the accelerant...

    Green Stuff vs. Apoxie?

In minifig construction vids I've noticed a lot of use of Green Stuff to fill gaps. I've only used it twice, so I can't claim to be experienced, but I found it more difficult to work with and not dry as hard or bond as well as Apoxie Sculpt or Magic Sculpt (both of which I've used a lot). They...

    Canopy glue?

I have read that you can safely use CA around clear plastics if you hit it with accelerator. It's the CA offgassing that fogs the plastic, so curing it nearly instantly prevents this. So I have read, but not yet tested to verify.

My first mini, that isn't a mini, but it's kinda mini

Thank you very much guys! The kit is pretty new, 2021 or 2022, got it through HLJ. I think it's labelled as "non scale" but I notice that scale seems to be greatly misunderstood throughout the toy and model industries. As a scientific fact: Everything that is a proportional representation of...

    Hello!

-Thanks all. And Baron, I am shocked you identified my name's meaning. Not that it would be hard if one has read Tolkien's dictionary, but it IS a first. Well met sir. And my thread is still there, when I click the link, and separately when I visit the Sci Fi forum section. Unless for some...

My first mini, that isn't a mini, but it's kinda mini

Hello. My first post on this forum, and my first "mini". Technically this is a plastic model kit, but in roughly 1/144 scale it's the same size as mini figs and the same painting techniques are appropriate. Is is mecha? armor? a mini figure? Yes! I most often paint on canvas (and two cars), but...
