    Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) - COMPLETE!

Re: Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) Poe Dameron's Black One T-70 X-wing (Bandai 1/72), completed in Tamiya, Vallejo, and Secret Weapon Miniatures acrylics; Alclad lacquers; 502 Abteilung oils; and Tamiya weathering pastels with a custom wooden base.

    R2-KT (Bandai 1/12 scale)

Bandai R2-KT, completed in Tamiya acrylics; Alclad lacquers; Mig & AK Interactive enamels; and Secret Weapon Miniatures pigments. For the first time ever, I decided not to paint the white and instead applied the enamel washes directly to the plastic. Coming from the BB-8/R2-D2 kit, I also...

    Another Bandai 1/72 X-wing (Red 5)

Bandai 1/72 scale X-wing starfighter (Luke Skywalker's Red 5) commission. Finished in Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics; 502 Abteilung oils; and Tamiya weathering pastels. I didn't do a WIP log for this build because it's more or less the same as the one I did in October of last year. I tweaked a...

    Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) - COMPLETE!

Re: Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) Thank you, everyone! So I took a few "glamor shots" of the model on an unused Death Star base. The actual base I'm going to use is going to be made of wood and painted to resemble Poe's flight helmet. The pictures aren't the greatest; I switched to using this...

    Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) - COMPLETE!

Re: Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) Thanks guys! After the black oil wash had dried, I gave the entire model a satin topcoat using Tamiya Flat Base mixed with Future. I decided to use satin instead of my normal matte because I think it makes the "black" of the ship a little more rich. I...

    Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) - COMPLETE!

Re: Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) Thanks guys! After completing all of the "black" for the body of the ship, it was time to move on to the distinct orange and grey markings. Even though the pattern of the markings is fairly simple, it still ended up being a rather complex masking job! A...

    Bandai T-70 X-wing (Black One) - COMPLETE!

Starting with the interior of the cockpit, I painted it using various Vallejo greys, drybrushed it with some Tamiya metallic pigments, and then picked out some details. I also painted Poe using a mix of red and orange Vallejo paints for his flight suit and then free-handed his helmet. After...

    Bandai "Vehicle Model" Star Destroyer

Thanks everyone! I can't get over how cool this little kit is. It's cheap, easy to build, and looks fantastic with minimal paint and effort. Since it's pretty tiny, it makes it the perfect size for a work desk or a bookcase.

    Bandai "Vehicle Model" Star Destroyer

Bandai "Vehicle Model" Star Destroyer; finished in Tamiya & Vallejo acrylics, 502 Abteilung oils, and MIG Productions enamels. I primed the model black and then gave it a coat of Tamiya Flat White darkened with a little Light Grey. After that, I cut a bunch of tiny pieces of masking tape to a...

Bandai First Order TIE fighter [DONE!]

I have a white backdrop, I just don't like shooting with it. I might take a few test pictures with it though, just to see how they look.

Bandai First Order TIE fighter [DONE!]

Re: Bandai First Order TIE fighter And it's done! All-in-all, I think it turned out okay. When painting this I remembered how difficult black is to pull off on a model and how annoying it can be to photograph properly. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to invest in some new photo...

Bandai First Order TIE fighter [DONE!]

Re: Bandai First Order TIE fighter Thanks! This kit is an entirely new tool. Design-wise, they share some similarities like the windscreen and the greeblies on the wings, but the vehicle is smaller than the OT TIE fighter. I really like the cockpit on the newer TIE, mainly because it doesn't...

Bandai First Order TIE fighter [DONE!]

The newest carnation of the venerable TIE fighter shares a lot with it's predecessor, such as the basic shape, the distinct twin ion engines, and dual laser cannons. Aside from the reversed color palette, the newer model sports a deflector shield, more powerful weapons, and an upgraded sensor...

    Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) [Done!]

Yeah, it's a pretty design and yes, you can rotate the head from side to side with the armature. Indeed, the first picture is BB-8 in just the bottom part of the stand with his head held in place with the shell piece with the peg and the "thumbs up" is using the entire stand.

    Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) [Done!]

Thanks! He has multiple pieces; one shell piece with a peg and another one without. There is a little armature that can hold his head if you use the shell piece without the peg because it allows the ball to freely rotate in the stand. Then you just position it with the armature behind the ball...

    Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) [Done!]

Re: Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) My first model kit of 2016 is done! It was a nice way to jump-start the modeling juices after I spend most of December horribly burnt out. The only weathering I did was to give him a gunk wash of 502 Abteilung Starship Filth; this was done on top a satin coat of...

    Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) [Done!]

Re: Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) After a little trial and error, I found a paint mix that I think looks pretty good. It's a little darker than the kit plastic, but after looking over some reference photos of the puppet used in the movie I think it works really well. It's made with Vallejo Model...

    Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) [Done!]

Re: Bandai's BB-8 (1/12 scale) The "body" ball is built around a cube-like structure. The metallic parts lock into the white parts which in turn fit into the orange parts, all of which are unique. Each of the round orange parts only fit into one location on the interior cube and then the curved...
