Finished my Moebius TOS Cylon Raider

Thanks. I did have reds in there but didn't realize they weren't 3v and they burned out. Luckily I was able to access the engines and swap in white ones. I throw a pic up tonight of what it looked like with reds. It was cool looking.

    Finished R2 Space 1999 Eagle 1 re-pop

Thanks guys. This was just a quick week long build to help clear my head. Didn't spend too much time on detailing her. The base is a generic wood oval from Hobby Lobby. The lunar landscape is just plain 'ole Plaster of Paris poured on. I used various handles of different sizes to make the...

Finished my Moebius TOS Cylon Raider

Thanks a lot. I had a ball building this. I want to do another and make some stylistic changes to it.

Finished my Moebius TOS Cylon Raider

Here is the finished ship. It was an enjoyable build. A few hiccups along the way with the lighting and a few fit issues. But in the end it came our rather nice I think. Enjoy the pics.

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments. Hand fitting the large bottom parts. A little bit of trimming here and there. and everything is great!

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Small update. Got a bit more done. The going has been slow due to Darth Real Life. We have our grandson staying with us for a few weeks. He's going to Wonderfest with us! Got the t-strip glued on the front caps. Strangely I only got enough from Mike to do four of the twelve strips needed. He...

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

I'm going to try my hand at scratch built Vipers to park in there. Those are going to be tiny!

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Started on the landing bays yesterday. I'm going to be scratch building the interiors. The RC kit would be great, but being strapped for cash with WF approching, well... So the opening to the bay is very small, instead of spending a ton of time scratch building I'm taking a different approach...

All Wings Report In... (Battle of Yavin Red Squadron Build)

Thanks ozzman, your display is very cool. Using the small snappers makes a full fleet a financial possibility.

All Wings Report In... (Battle of Yavin Red Squadron Build)

Very cool idea in making these painting guides! I'm going to save a copy of them as well, with your permission of course. Now you need to add the weathering to your ortho's!

Looks very good! Can't wait to see her finished.

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Scrapped the aluminum tube in the above pic as it was to big, inner diameter wise. Picked up some brass tubing this weekend. Much better fit. I used 1/4 inch brass tube for the main run and 9/32 brass tube sleeves that fit over the bolt threads and main tube. This is all JBWelded in place for...

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Testing some mesh fabric called "tulle" I got from a member on SSM. I think it looks pretty good. With a coat or two of flat black to "fill in the blanks", this stuff could work. It would be white glued on top of some frosted acetate to diffuse light from being backlit from blue LEDs. What do...

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Thanks. Devising a plan to use replaceable nameplates so I can change the name of the ship at will. The plan is to use small strips of steel (if I can what I'm looking for) and have different ship names applied to several plates. I'll then have small rare earth magnets counter sunk into the...

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Thanks guys. Yes, this kit has a ton of details. Here are a few more pics. Starting the internal bracing. The bolts holding the head and engine block on line up. These tubes will be JB Welded in place so no future flex for this ship! Engine section and bracing. The plan is to have all LEDs in...

    3 Foot TOS Galactica

Thanks guys. Yes, it's definitely a beast. It will be lit with .5mm fiber optic. Picking up some brass tube today for the mount, two instead of a single central mount for it. I'm looking around to see if I can find something like an Ikea coffee table or something that would work as a display...

    Wonderfest

I'll be there this year as I only live a few hours away as well. This will be my fourth. I plan to have my 3 foot Galactica done by then.

New 'Build the Millennium Falcon' Magazine

There have been many "large" kits done this way. The last one I remember was a 1/8 Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger. It's not something for everyone because of the expense and the long wait until the last parts arrive. They've been successful in the past.
