I have 2 original Falcon kits. Now THAT is junk! Lol.. I'm actually reworing the entire thing. Lots of resin, scraping all of the pipes off the Hull... Led's.... its come a long way but still a lot to do....

Hi John, Can you tell me what you're soaking parts in? I scrubbed mine with warm water and a little detergent and they seem fine, got one gun well built and painted including putting an LED behind the chair. I must get back to it... Been sooooo busy and now I'm sick :-\ Oh well, going to fall...

Great work John, i'm also following your lead on this mod but I'm cutting through from behind and and building a structure to give put strength back into the panel. I must get back on it but it's real cold here right now and I have no heating in the man cave! Brrr! Keep up the good work!

@ Jaitea, that was what put me onto the idea of cutting out between the plates.... Also, if you look at the illustration shows, you would only ever have a clear cut through upto the engine grill. @ Grendels, I'll look forward to it.... :)

Just a 'safety for the model' tip, for anyone cutting out the vents.... I also used a multi tool to open up the holes but I did it from underneath so I could see exactly where the cutter was going. This actually in turn makes it safe for the surface of the model just in case it does bite in and...

I've been watching your vid's on my iPad, no problems??? As far as the "thrust plates" go, I only cut back as far as the engine screen, I was almost tempted to cut them all off and reposition them like I might if building a plane 'cranking an' banking' but I'm glad I resisted that one!!!! ;)...

Also using a vice and you're correct, it helps so much! I think I'm at the point of no return, I am making the plates at the front basically the same thickness as the rest so I will at least do the other side using the same method and maybe change for the lower half. I've stopped for today as...

I used small flat pliers with good results. On a side note.... Following Grendel's lead on opening the edges at the front of the saucer, I approached it from another angle and cut it out from the rear using a multi tool and I don't know if I'm making more work for myself. :-\

AWESOME job G! As soon as it was suggested to lift/separate the plates, I went to the man cave to look at it, I was looking at re building the plates along that section..... Not sure??? Good work Grendel! :)

Also doing it and oh boy! It's ALOT of work!!! :o Not sure my method is good but I have scraped up the surface of the plates around the pipes, a little work with fine paper and it's all good. I do think the work is worth the result though, really makes the detail pop.
