How to paint carpet if you have no embossing powder

Before I started using flocking, I used to paint the floors with a "flat" paint and it generally looked OK.

    Washing a new model

I've been modeling since the mid-60's and never washed a model yet (outside of something I removed paint from) - never had any problems - use a good primer and you'll be fine/

SMA What's New In Your Stash?!?

I believe the Level numbers on Revell kits are more indicative of the number of parts than any particular detail. There are a lot of "Level 5" 2in1 kits in their line - the level 5 means extra parts for the 2 types of build.

What was your car growing up (high school car)

If we've devolved into music - I was stationed in the US Army 30 miles from Munich when the Olympic Hall was "The" concert tour location for bands. The Army used to provide discounted tickets and bus rides to Olympic Hall from our Kaserne. I saw most every popular rock band from the early 70's...

What was your car growing up (high school car)

Super 88 was very heavy - more than 1 1/2 tons - I could move but most guys were lighter and faster

What was your car growing up (high school car)

1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 - 383 V-8 with a 4-Barrel Carb - you could hear the gas being sucked into the carb when you hit the gas hard.

I hate the wire looms - they like to tear the insulation - I'm not adverse to using a piece of thread and knotting it instead

'70 Ford Torino COBRA - Revell

Great work. I think the key to BMF is using a new blade - it doesn't seem to like the least lack of sharpness. (pardon the grammar)

    newby

I get it - your brain never really gets the idea that "can't do that any more". I renovated a 100 year old Victorian in Louisville 25 years ago - can't imagine how I could do that now.

    Newby old man

I wouldn't be worried about hand-brushing camo - from what I understand, most of the camo was done in the field and I doubt they hauled compressors and spray equipment - probably brushed most of the camo during the war.

Retired Doc attempts a build of Tamiya's 1/32 Spitfire

Well, Doc - you may consider yourself a relatively newbie but you are right up there with the best - great work.

'70 Ford Torino COBRA - Revell

Sure - for something like the side lights use a single piece of foil then trim inside & outside - less tedious than the windshield.

'70 Ford Torino COBRA - Revell

I use Bare Metal Foil - works great - need to clear coat after to make sure it doesn't come loose over time.

You can get aftermarket coils from Model Car Garage (probably others too)
