What would you do with these paints?

Those crafts paints? Toss’em or someone on here might take them off your hands. Enamels… I’ll take them. I see them in the background.

    Arma Hobby 1/48 Hurricane

Nice looking beat up weathered bird. I’ve heard various things both good and bad quirks on Arma kits. I have yet ordered one but1/48 scale is my go-to scale for aircrafts.

    A friend gave me 2 1/48 DC 3 kits

Nice. I would paint prop blurs to make it more realistic. I did it with an oldie Airfix 1/72 scale Bristol Beaufighter… https://www.spamodeler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=164714&hilit=Bristol+Beaufighter#p164714 Yes I scratch built it as inflight with torpedo being released.

In what way you’re not satisfied with off the shelf paints? What brand of shelf paint(s) are you referring to? What model subject are you painting? AK Interactive Real Colors are highly recommended for military colors.

    Started the first summer project!

I used to build 1/72 scale aircraft model kits in my younger years. These old eyes has had enough so I build mostly 1/48 scale. I still have a couple 1/72 scale kits I my stash though. Hey now…. Who doesn’t love a shark mouth bird? The one on the left… I’ve never seen that teeth marking before.

    Started the first summer project!

Nice. I haven’t done a SLUF aka: A-7 Corsair since my youth years. What squadron are you running with? Camo scheme?

Yup. No arguments on that logic.

My 1st RAF build in 40+ years - what color for wheelwells?

It’s only $99…. A piss in the pot is all it costs. LOL!

    Decal making with inkjet printer..??

Why? I have an inkjet and it worked fine. Just don’t use clear decal paper when making your own decals. Colors tend to be translucent once removed from backing paper. Use white backing decal paper.

Temptation won. Now you’re going to hell. ROFL!

    Layering/paint type/technique?

Masking can be time consuming. Hand painting can be time consuming as well. Depends on what works for you.

    Spitfire 1/32

Looks good. But we have a member over at Spamodeler who’s work is incredible. I mean, incredible because there are no words to describe his work. I’ve watched and followed all his 1/32 scale aircraft builds and each one is a pure masterpiece from the cockpit, engine, wheel wells, everything. You...

    UH-1D HUEY GUNSHIP GROUP BUILD

No surprise. It is a repop from the original ‘71 and ‘76 Revell kit. The original Huey Gunship did have some quirks and fiddly bits then.

    Tom Daniels enthusiast ?

Heh… all of my Tom Daniels kits from my youth years are long gone. My goal is to find any Tom Daniels kits from my list, including those I never done. Some are asking stupid money on eBay.

Revell P61, waiting for the hammer to fall

Seriously? Are you really going to be anal about this. All someone did was mention an F-4 Phantom, I replied and that was the end of it. Lighten up, Francis. The topic got strayed temporarily. Geez….

Revell P61, waiting for the hammer to fall

No surprise on anything Italeri. There’s seem to be a constant trend with strange fits and scale size on Italeri kits as a whole. I’ve never did a Tamiya Phantom kit but have done a couple Hasegawa kits.

    Tom Daniels enthusiast ?

Oh man…. I love, love, love those Tom Daniels Design kits as a kid in the 70s. Many fond memories building those as a kid. I’m always looking for them now for another go at it. Thus far I have Paddy Wagon and The Jinx Express - currently looking for Fast Buck decals Here’s a list of Tom Daniels...

    Decals not sticking

Myth… maybe so…. everybody knows decals sticks best on a gloss clearcoat. Ask anybody in other forum sites. I learned that a long time ago and it makes sense. The one advantage of applying decals on gloss surface you can move and adjust the placement of decals better than on flat clearcoat...

    Decals not sticking

You don’t need no Tacky Glue garbage. As a rule that 99% of model builders knows that decals stick best on gloss coat coat surfaces. Besides, it looks tacky looking with glossy decals on a flat coat surface. After you’re done with the decal session, spray a coat of flat clearcoat over the model...
