I'm much the same. Back and knees are knackered. Never gave it a thought lifting and lugging huge fire doors about when I was young and stupid, the result being a multitude of micro fractures in the vertebrate. I really miss the smell of just milled pine.

I'm trying a different technique with the figures. I'm making washes and using them in a layer fashion instead of straight from the bottle.
I'll just keep on building they layers until I like the effect, so far it seems to be working for me.
It took 7 minutes to go from this to this a damp cloth was used.
As with any filler, it takes a few applications to get it right. Still feel a ridge another coat was applied
