    Trouble with panel liner/enamel thinner

Not at all true. I "cross products" all the time.

    Trouble with panel liner/enamel thinner

Hi ohbejuan, Sorry to hear that, man, must be frustrating. What primer did you use, if any? Vallejo paints will not adhere to the surface of the model by themselves, as they are water-based. If you simply brushed it on, then even less. The varnish cannot help if the first layers are not bonded...

Sliabh na Mban (Michael Collins' ARR) 1/35 WIP

It's a 1/35 Meng kit, but I had to buy another one by Roden to add the top light. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/meng-model-vs-010-rr-armored-car--1188392

Sliabh na Mban (Michael Collins' ARR) 1/35 WIP

Thank you, @wjbrandel ! I like the base a lot better myself, heheh. I think the base is quite good, but the car is only ok. And most importantly, the base was a lot of fun, whereas the building of the ARR was a pain.

Sliabh na Mban (Michael Collins' ARR) 1/35 WIP

Hey guys, Not sure whether an armored car counted as armor or automobile, but here it is! Like I've said before, I'm good at building huge resin kits that require a lot of sanding and filling, but building this was torture for a hamfisted guy like me. I am really looking forward to starting...

    Paint Brushes

If you mean for "detail work" in terms of weathering, just get synthetics from AMMO or AK. If you want to actually *paint* something by hand, I would recommend some kolinsky brushes from a brand like Da Vinci, which is inexpensive but solid quality.

    Thinner Question

It depends on which paints you use. If you're using alcohol-based acrylics (e.g. Tamiya), then stay away from water, and use Tamiya Lacquer Thinner or Mr. Hobby Levelling Thinner for best results. If you are using true acrylics (i.e. water-based), then you need acrylic thinner. I have tried...

    Odorless Thinners?

Hi, I don't think there are any differences at all between AMMO and AK, but either thinner is definitely different to the cheapo general store equivalent. As for artist's brands, I have no idea. They may be just as good. For what it's worth, MIG Jiménez explains in one of his older videos...

Sorry if I derailed your thread @BLT . Is that a Bandai Interceptor you're building?

Color guide for the Tie Interceptor

The Vallejo paint range you quote is this, which is an artist's range and not for modelists. Their Model Air, Game Air, Game Color, etc. ranges, designed for wargamers and scale modelists do not contain alcohols, period. They are identical to AMMO Acrylics, AK Interactive acrylics, GW Acrylics...

Color guide for the Tie Interceptor

Sorry, but that is simply not the case. Games Workshop, Vallejo, AMMO, AK, Scale75, etc. all offer water-based acrylics with no solvents whatsoever. Some of these brands only do that (e.g. GW); others have different ranges (e.g. AK). Paints like the examples below have no alcohol whatsoever, are...

Color guide for the Tie Interceptor

Hi BLT Great project idea there, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up regarding the paints. Tamiya XF paints are advertised as "acrylics", but they are in fact solvent-based (alcohol) and toxic. Tamiya thinners come in two main versions: acrylic (X20A) and lacquer (with and without...

1/35 Kugelpanzer from Das Werk Complete + FULL BUILD VIDEO

Hi guys, I've been working on my two balls of steel for a while (:p), one in a '47, what-if Soviet scheme, and the other one in Warhammer 30k style. The idea was to show people from both camps, scale models and wargames, that there should be more cross-pollination of ideas between them. I...
