1/700 Revell model (partial model purchased off of eBay, had to make some parts myself to replace what was missing), with Trumpeter 1/700 Tomcats added, custom tow tractors and other modifications. "Water" is sculpted styrofoam with aluminum foil overlay and Woodland Scenics Realistic Water and Water Effects. Paint is Apple Barrel and Folk Art Acrylics.

This model is my attempt to depict the ship underway in September 1974. I probably made more than a few errors (probably the positioning of craft on the flight deck), but I did the best I had with what I had to work with.

See what you think:

Ooh, did not realize there was a 1/700 kit of this from Revell

I had seen the Tamiya one, but that is really large and expensive at 1/350 and some other box scale ones, but 1/700 is my preferred scale for ships

Excellent work.
Love the weathering on the flight deck

Thanks! I used several reference photos to try to get that look; I figured it would have weathered fairly quickly once at see.

And yeah, the 1/350 is a bit big for me. I think they recently re-released this one:

It's actually "1/720", but the 1/700 stuff scales with it just fine. :)
