Hi all, new on here so apologies if it has already been covered. I'm looking for a solution that will let me put all my modelling gear in one place to keep together but also to be moved around as necessary. In common (I suspect) my kit is in plastic storage boxes which move around as I am evicted from various parts of the house so ideally something which looks attractive when closed up and has castors for easy movement. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the heard. I feel your pain as I have also had to move to ever decreasing build areas as the wife decides that my space (which hasn't been used before) has now become the most usable space in the house!!
All of my bench can be unscrewed quickly, the spray booth comes apart and can be used for transporting other bits like brushes, glues and similar.
It can all be taken apart and ready for moving in about 20mins. Even the white backboards and shelves are stuck in place with blue tac.

I think he's talking about utilizing a roller cabinet of some flavor .
Just search roller cabinet on Amazon , Harbor Freight , etc

Maybe something like this would work? It would give you a work surface, knee-space to sit, and storage. You might even be able to get away with just closing up your bench when company comes instead of moving. If you're handy with wood, I imagine you could use this as a jumping-off point and build something even better. There are also some cheaper options listed on that page.

Glad to help. When closed, they show storing the sewing machine on the shelf in the knee space. I think I'd find a couple of organizers (for paints and tools) that could normally sit side-by-side at the back of the work surface, then stack them on that shelf for hiding.

Fortunately my workspace is out in the garage.
My wife understands that the garage is MY domain and respects boundaries.
The cats don’t, of course, which is why the garage is off limits to them.
I feel for those of my brethren who don’t have the room for a permanent, dedicated workspace they can call their own. We should all be free to enjoy our hobby without fearing of having to relocate just to suit the whims of another.

I have a kind of a solution that might work for you, depending on how much material you have to stow when not in use.
I do have a bench in my cellar, but I put together a travelling kit to take to club meetings, meetups with other modelers, etc. After different solutions, I have 2 tool boxes, one small, one large.
The small box came from Dick Blick's Art Supplies, unfinished pine. I got it originally for my oils for painting figures, but it quickly became storage for some other paints and small tools:
I got a larger Craftsman tool box for the rest of my paints and more small tools:
I can toss some additional things in there, like an LED desk lamp that folds flat, a cutting mat, a brush caddy:
and an old dental tool tray as a brush holder:
everything I need to set up a comfortable temporary work area. Storing the tool boxes is easy enough, too. They can fit in a closet, under stairs, etc.

Yeah, my bench might look like a mess, but keeping the traveling kit organized is important. Get in, deploy, pack up, get out, as efficiently as possible.
