Blohm & Voss BV 155V-1

Amazing what you can do with one of these with enough time spent...when I was a kid I would have done it in 2 days...now its months.

Thanks , guys .

Well , when I was kid I didn't have all these other responsibilities going on . So yeah , more than a week on a kit was unheard of :D
We'd build an entire fleet of warships in a couple of days and then sent them on fire with lighter fluid during " the battle " LOL .
No paint though . We knew what we were doing . Professional pyromaniacs ..

I built a huge diorama for the tank battle..100 pound of dirt at least..then destroyed most of the fleet. Now I look at what some of those models cost..holy crap.

Heh heh , Thanks , Q !

That grey-green base is a little too light for me but it will darken with the weathering .
hopefully :D

Thanks !
I love liquid latex masking .
Now I really want to build a Stuka and paint it like that example I posted .

I like the pattern , but it's way too minty :D
Might have to hit it with a filter depending on how it looks after panel line wash . I'm going to use watercolor so I can wipe it off it looks wrong ; starting with burnt umber .
Then spray it with matt clear - that AK Ultra Matte .
Need to remask the canopy . I would have left it covered but I had to check on how all that putty and scribing went .
I'm adding a white band with black borders around the fuselage just before the vertical stabilizer , and white at the tip of the vertical .

No , not Vallejo .
I'll be using the cheapo Academy watercolors for the wash. Then fix it in place with the clear-coat .
the filter will be a dilute acrylic --- haven't considered which , but probably from the Createx paints on hand .

I can't remember but did they not paint these in the field? And where they not sometimes pretty wonky?

Thanks !
Yes , there was a lot of field applied camo .
Since this was only an experimental aircraft with only 2 built , historical accuracy ain't too important :D

Besides , this is the 3rd prototype built - with the addition of an armor shield at the forward canopy LOL

Maaaaan ,
I didn't realize how off the white balance was on the camera .
The little blue rag I was setting her on went into the laundry and I replaced it with this green one .
I immediately saw how wrong the green was on the camera's monitor and thru the viewfinder . zoiingggg .
I corrected the temperature so the rest of the pix will be accurate .

Thank you , green rag .

Woa... That does look different... and a lot better I might add.

Color is such a complex thing... I had a talk with my 15 year old daughter over what Grey we should paint the Darth Vader Tie Fighter in, and she started with 'just any old grey' until I held the different greys up against browns, greens and blues...

Oh my... Her world of color got A LOT bigger that day.

Yes and the lighting is everything of course .
I need to keep an eye on it since just shooting from a different distance / angle is changing it . , and where I position the desk lamp .

That bottom photo is the most accurate .
But both photos are way way better than before .

Heh , if you scroll up to the photo that's last of the tail sitting on the scissors and compare it to the 2 pix immediately below it .
Same settings and effectively same lighting - totally different color . The scissor shot is actually pretty close .
The yellow is too bright .
:D That green rag was looking fluorescent . Hard for me to miss .

night before last I was staring at it on the monitor thinking what filter to remove the blue-tint ( orange ) .
That base does have some blue in it but not like what the photo was showing .
