HIMMELSFALKE --- Ma.K. Falke XL

Following this build. Very resourceful with the disposable materials.

Hey Ohm - Happy Holidays !

Hopefully I should have some more progress posted over the next week

This is a really neat build & concept idea, a 'Falke XL'. Do look forward to see it completed; Another excellent build of your's [always enjoy your stuff]. Happy Holidays... And thank you, for sharing your ideas!

Thanks !
I haven't done much to it yet . , been enjoying the fantastic weather here . No cold , wet winter to drive me to the bench :D

Cool modification! I may have missed this, but will you base this on the ground, then, with some crew figures, or will you finish it as an in-flight model?

Happy New Year , Baron .

She'll be airborne , hence the chromed steel shaft up her exhaust . ( roller-shaft from the innards of an old printer )
We finally got a blast of winter overnight so I'm actually about to start back on it ; it was 76 degrees here yesterday :D

Aight
Time consuming shaping of the right side to match the left .

She slides right in and out , keyed into place up front and aligned exactly on centerline of the jig when pushed up against that dowel .
.. .. and stays put since she already weights 1 Lb 7 Oz

The bridge of the jig slides on really snug dadoes , but I added a slot for a spring-clip for good measure -- one less thing to worry about :

First pick a point :

The right side is roughed in fat , so I throw one or more of these shims under the T's fence when it's moved to that side :

Then remove material the required amount at that point using a tiny bur on the rotary tool .
Repeat
Repeat
Repeat ..

Once enough points are plotted , the remaining material ( Aves Apoxie Sculpt ) will be removed to complete the mapping .

My opinion [for it's worth], I am enjoying your 'how-to' presentation here, for it provides 'us' builders, with information and techniques, perhaps we, ourselves haven't thought of or realized, in modelling a particular theme/subject. For me, I am all about learning something 'new', or maybe even a better way, to execute a particular task or build. I'm over 65 now [been modelling since I was a kid], and I am still learning from all you, builders here and on other Forums, regarding new ways-techniques-tools-applications-and what-nots regarding, my pursuit of building models... Great stuff, Urumomo. And thank-you, for sharing.

Yes, the step-by-step problem solving is very educational. I esp dig that dial jig you made to make the model symmetric.

Cool , thanks !
I've been picking at this still .
Doing the panel lines and fasteners will be fun o_O

I just read through the whole thread. Awesome work. I love your jigs and fixtures. Your work is very inspiring. Can’t wait to see more.

Extra points for the Can clip. I met Damo Suzuki about 10 years ago. He’s a strange cat.

Thanks , man !
I'll be picking at this one while I'm working on the Hofnarr build .
Extra points back at you for meeting Damo -- yes , he is a trip ; and still going strong evidently .

Interesting JIG setup you made. Totally essential to keep it cemetric. Have one of these kits and you have incredible skills.

Thank you much , dogfish .
Good to hear you're into the Ma.K.
what other kits do have ?
