best way to sell built kits online?

Yeah, that's a good suggestion, too-the VFW, American Legion. Also libraries, historical societies, and so on. And before anyone scoffs, "Oh, that won't work, they won't want them", I'll say, it doesn't hurt to ask.

best way to sell built kits online?

De gustibus non disputandem est. I wouldn't sell mine, either, for sentiment and for the hassle of posting the sale, dealing with collecting the payment, packing up and shipping. But some folks don't mind it. I wouldn't collect kits, either-and a stash doesn't count!-but some do. As far as...

    Scratch built Victorian milk cart

I think Phoenix Model Developments made a Victorian milk float in 1/32 scale, and another in 1/24 scale, back in the day. Those were white-metal kits. They made a range of civilian items for dioramas, that were very popular. Today, the catalog is available through S&D Miniatures...

Vallejo metallic airbrushed colors- clear coat before decaling?

The gloss coat before applying decals is intended to provide a smooth surface, as free as possible from tiny pockets in the surface that would trap air and cause silvering. A rough surface, such as a matte coat of paint, has more of those tiny pockets. That's what gives that surface its matte...

    New from Tamiya

I'm still trying to find my Tamiya P-38 kit. I bought one when it was first issued. It's not lost, as such-I know it's here in the house. But at a more granular level of detail, I don't know where in the house. :D

    Ciao!

Welcome to the hobby and to the Herd! Don't be afraid to ask questions, don't be afraid to make mistakes, and don't be disappointed if your builds don't look like the ones you see online or in magazines. It takes time, and the guys who built those picture-perfect models didn't spring from the...

    Acrylic paint from 1980s

I forgot about that point. If you mean Tamiya's acrylics, they brush just fine, but they really need to be thinned. I use Tamiya's own proprietary acrylic thinner for this, and they flow just as well as the water-based acrylics I use. I painted Tamiya acrylics right out of the jar for many...

    Acrylic paint from 1980s

David o, if you're thinking of PollyScale, I never used those. Another brand that was around for years. The hobby shop I frequented probably carried them, but I may have thought of them more as from the model railroad side of the hobby. I never used Humbrols, either, though they were probably...

    Acrylic paint from 1980s

A blast from the past, Momo! I have a post in that old thread, too. There was a revival of the brand, though perhaps not the formula, about 10 or 12 years ago, too. But it was out of Poland. There was a manufacturer there who release a line of paints called Pactra. I think the name was the...

    Acrylic paint from 1980s

Both, as I mentioned in my post. The acrylic enamel line was in round jars, about the size as Tamiya's large-size acrylics. Pactra had an enamel line of military paints, that came in small square jars, about the size of Testor's enamels in the little glass jars.

    Cheap airbrush musings

Some of those issues you mentioned aren't necessarily a result of the brush, but more part of the learning curve with airbrushing. My first airbrush, which I still use, was a Paasche VL, double-action, siphon-fed brush. Relatively simple design, rugged, easy to use and maintain. The only thing...

    Acrylic paint from 1980s

Hmm...from the 80s? I don't know of a brand from the 80s, that is, brought on the market in the 80s. Your question does make me think of Pactra, though. It was around since the early 70s, but still available through the 80s into the 90s. I had paints from 2 of Pactra's lines. One was an...
