    Pin washing help?

The other day I purchased some Mona Lisa mineral spirits and a lamp black color oil paint that was around $6 at micheals. I have to say the batch came out great. I also bought some soft pastels to use for pigments because no store around here sells any form of pigments. I really believe now that...

    M1A1 Abrams "Iraq 2003" 1/35 scale

Ok I have given the spare tracks an update due to it looking like a pink color. I took some of the oil paints I had and started mixing them until I got what looked to me as a rust color. I got the instructions from the web and now it does not look pink now. Tell me what you think or do I need to...

    M1A1 Abrams "Iraq 2003" 1/35 scale

Yea it does look pink. I was searching for rust color combinations and one I found was this mix. In the cup it really looked like rust until it was applied lol. I don't have any rust pigments or anything, all I have is my paint. I am going to have to play with the colors a bit to find the right one.

Well here it is. I decided not to do any dust effects because I really like it the way it is. I still have plenty of time to change my mind though and add some stuff to it. Tell me what you think of it, and remember, this is only my 3rd build. LOL!

    Pin washing help?

Thanks Chris. I did buy some cheap stuff from Walmart. It was only like $7.00 for a pack of 12. I did notice that during the mixing stage it did look really grainy and it even felt like sand or something was in it. Something told me not to buy it but I did. Trial and error right lol. I did see a...

    Pin washing help?

This is the first time I have ever used mineral spirits. It was a gray color. Is mineral spirits suppose to be clear or is it a white color because the bottle I purchased I noticed it was a white color after I opened it.

    Pin washing help?

I have recently started trying to learn how to pin wash the models I build. I bought some cheap oil base paints and mineral spirits from Walmart to help get me started. Well I mixed black paint with the MS and it turned gray. Is that normal? Could someone help me to better understand how to...

    M1A1 Abrams "Iraq 2003" 1/35 scale

I have a lot of sanded tile grout to use for dust pigments but the problem for me is the color. I bought nutmeg color which works well for dark mud. I think I want to use a light color dust though I just can't buy anything yet.

    M1A1 Abrams "Iraq 2003" 1/35 scale

I have been mainly focusing on the lower hull portion. It's completely built and painted. I am really satisfied with it so far as well as the overall kit.

Construction had began on this Abrams tank. I really like the fact that this kit came with poly caps for the wheels. The poly caps allow the wheels to remain in place with the wheels still able to rotate. Here are some update pics on this build.
