    Adventures in 3d printing

Good for you! 3D printing can be a real PITA, but it is also very satisfying. I finally got to the point where I designed and printed the little green wagon in my avatar. That sort of thing gives me a lot of satisfaction. Keep up the good work.

    3d printing: Little green wagon

A friend of mine has a Sublime Green Dodge Charger. So when I saw this filament, I bought it with the idea of making something for him with my 3D printer. I downloaded the steering wheel and seat from Thingiverse, and the wheelie bar connecting rods are stainless steel rod. I designed and built...

The best thing about being a cop in Pontiac, IL, is that you get to drive a GTO.

    Decals not sticking

I normally use a setting solution, but didn't this time.

    Decals not sticking

On my last model, the decals did not want to stick. They were from a sheet of decal paper that I used previously with no problem. The only thing I can think of is that I got the clear on too heavy. Would this cause them not to stick?

Yeah, I think of the patrol cars we had back in the '70s, and the Hemi Chargers of the last decade, and know that I would be totally bummed if I had to drive a V6 Explorer. :(

    Printing decals at home?

I use a regular HP printer then apply 2 coats of Krylon Crystal Clear to them. No issues at all.

I never was a paramedic, but if I was, I'd sure rather drive an Olds 442 W-30 than some hulking E350 diesel.

I've been working for about a month to upgrade the quality of my 3D printed parts. My light bars are cleaner, with much less stringing. I finally bought a pin vise so I could drill holes in the A pillars and mount the spotlights in a more realistic manner. Alabama state trooper.

    Brushable stainless steel paint?

I just bought some Mirror chrome paint from Culture Hustle. It looks amazing, and I think once it has cured you can touch it. I may experiment with shooting it with a coat of semi-flat clear to see if it ends up looking like stainless.
