My first build

Quite an incredible for a first build. Do not worry about the time it takes. I produce about 4 to 5 1/48 per year.

The important part is to finish the model in the way you want it to be. That can take a lot of time in perfecting, as much as possible, what you want to achieve.

On the flash on the helmets I suspect the lighting under which you have taken the photos. Even with matte varnish finish. Other parts of the troop carrier are also very flashy.

If possible I would flash your light upwards to reflect back on to your diorama. Even gloss is not a problem then.

I can recommend this unit although you need near £60.

It has an array of LEDs. Plus you can control the amount of light the LED's put out.
You should not, providing the light is controlled not get the flashing. Also if you have adjustment on the camera then a longer exposure time with less light will also help.

Like all things practice & see what results you get.

Just to say the above is to help not a criticism as for a first effort you have a great future.

Regards & keep up the good work.
