The Iconic Impala, the beginning of the muscle car revolution.

The Hulk, The Cuban Missile Crisis, Spider Man, and the Beatles first album. What do these things all have in common? They all happened in 1962. Also in 1962, the Chevy Impala got a much needed refreshing, and thus the early beginnings of the muscle car revolution was born!!!

The kit consists of 152 parts, 97 in white styrene, 39 in chrome, 8 clear, 2, clear red and 6 tires (4 regular and 2 drag slicks), an 11 page instruction sheet along with a very nice set of decals with both stock and racing markings to out fit this 2n1 kit.

Here are photos of the sprues and instruction sheets. The gallery will open in a popup and you can click through to the next and read descriptions.

This newly re-released kit from Revell marks the 3rd of 4 Impalas from the Revell stables this year (the ’60 and ’66 Impalas were releases earlier this year, and the ’63 Impala is supposed to be released before Xmas). The kit parts themselves look great, a minimal of mold lines and sink marks to be dealt with.

This is part of Revell’s “Special Edition” series, which features optional parts and new tooling, this kit including parts to create either a stock ’62 Impala SS, or a fire breathing race track version.

A very nicely appointed chrome tree, that looks pretty much flawless, with the parts attached in a way that will minimize the amount of clean up. The “409” (I feel a Beach Boys song coming on) V8 engine is very well detailed, with many of the parts separate (fuel pump, oil filter, starter, etc) for even more detail rather than molded to the engine halves.

This kit will build into a very nice replica of the ’62 Impala SS in either stock or racing trim. With the higher than average parts count, I am reluctant to say this would be a good kit for a beginner, however it should be a fairly straight forward build, and as long as you take your time and study the instructions, even beginners should have no problem assembling this kit.

“She’s real fine, my 409!!”

This kit retails for $24.75CDN and can be ordered from Elm City Hobbies

I would give it 4.0 out of 5 Sprues!

Scott Millican lives in Elm City, New Brunswick.
No one is exactly sure where that is.
He owns an awesome hobby shop
and has a really cool website too.
