I need to add texture to paint.

I'll post some pics once I have a finished product. I still have some more testing to do. I used SIG micro balloons. You can buy them at hobby shops or places that sell supplies for building radio control airplanes. You mix them into epoxy to make a better and lighter filler.

I didn't update the thread. I put some micro balloons in the paint and it worked pretty good.

    2k clear

Splash Paints has a great 2k clear, and it is sold in small quantities which makes it easier to use. I recently went to Tropical Glitz and picked up a quart of 2k clear to safe money. It was like $65, but I have a lifetime supply of 2k clear now. I will never have to buy any more. Price...

I need to add texture to paint.

I work in 1:24th scale cars. I need to find a way to add some texture to my paint. I need to paint a ragtop sunroof. I googled this and people are putting all kids of crap in their paint. Baking soda, baby powder, flour, and who knows what else. Does anyone have a less backwoods way to add...

    Needle size

I have several airbrushes so I can choose any clearcoat I want. I use Mr Super Clear UV cut in spray cans. That works so well I don't even bother with my airbrush. Now to answer your question. If you are painting cars, you don't need to go any smaller than 0.35mm needle. I usually use 0.50mm...

Primer, Paint and Clear Coat Questions...

You seem to have a lot of questions about painting cars. Here is how to get a decent paint job consistently, no matter what type of paint you use. First, I would stay from enamel paint unless you absolutely have to. It doesn't dry very fast at all. 1. Prep the body. Remove mold lines, and...

    Cheap airbrush musings

I couldn't bring myself to read that whole first post. So here is blanket airbrush info. I love love LOVE airbrushes that have a floating needle seat in them. This means the needle seat is a cone shape that requires no tools to remove or install. This style of needle seat is also easier to...

Vallejo metallic airbrushed colors- clear coat before decaling?

Decals pefrom best on a smooth, gloss finish. If the paint is gloss you can apply decals on the paint. If your paint has a matte finish, no matter how smooth, the decals will be harder to work with. If I use a matte paint, I apply 1 coat of clear, then apply decals, and then apply more clear.

Primer, Paint and Clear Coat Questions...

I scribe panel lines first, before primer. If you are talking about using a panel line paint, you have to do that after you apply paint and clear. If you apply panel line paint when the finish is matte, the surrounding matte paint or primer will absorb the panel line paint.

My experiments with chrome paint and clear coat

I used Molotow on a set of wheels. The finish is too bright so if the clearcoat reduces the shine that is fine. Since the Molotow is completey covering the wheels, and the wheels must be handled in order to mount them on the model, I would like to clearcoat them to protect the finish. So wich...

My experiments with chrome paint and clear coat

Sorry for waking up an old thread, but I have some chrome paint questions. I usually use SMS Hyperchrome and have very good results. It works very well and there is no need to clearcoat it. It can be handled a little bit without messing up the finish. This one time I used Hyperchrome, it...

1/72 dimensions of a basic house

The exterior walls of a 1 story home are 10 feet tall, give or take a couple inches. I think the exact measurement is 9 feet 10 inches. So I would just round up to 10 feet. If you want to make a 2 story home, exterior walls will be 20 feet. There are a couple inches you are supposed to add in...

    Panel Line Markers question

Only if the marker makes its way out of the panel line. Thats why I like using them sometimes instead of brushing on a wash.

    Panel Line Markers question

I should add that I bought a marker from the local Blick Art Supplys. Same size, .003. It has worked flawlessly. Got all the panel lines done and still works like new.
