The subtlety makes all the difference. A perfect layer of wash on that! The key to wiping it off like that is definitely having that smooth future coat on there.

Excellent job on the washes, and very instructive! I'm still getting the hang of them.

Ok chaps ...Im getting there
The engine .....I decided to give this a simple dry brush with steel ,the hub casing was picked out with a neutral Grey ..as they normally are ,then a dark wash was used to settle the dry brushing a bit and I also added it to the casing but streaked it a bit .
After that the engine was fitted ,at the same time I fitted the gun barrels ,these were just painted black and high lighted with a smear of AK dark steel pigments .
Following that ,I picked out the edge of the firewall with silver ,this was not normally painted on the real thing as it acted like a heat shield for the exhaust ring ,but was left in the Stainless steel finish ,then ...The cowl was fitted .
Next up was the undercarraige ....very simple on the Dauntless ,just two legs ,these were painted with Aluminium along with the wheels ,then given a dark wash to bring out any detail .The tyres were painted with Vallejo German grey ,personally I think black is too dark .The legs locate positively into the wells ,and once in place I left them to dry up overnight .
Onto the Dive brakes / Flaps .....
These were painted the same way as the rest of the aircraft ,with the exception of the inside being painted Red ,for that I used Tamiya Flat Red ,you'll notice the spar has been left grey ...as it is on the real aircraft ,also the actuator rods are done grey .
To make fitting a bit simpler I fitted the rods to the lower flaps first rather than try to set them in after .The top Dive brake gets fitted first ,then the lower ,and as I had already done a dry fit ,I knew there was no fit issue ,so everything fell into place
A dark pin wash was also added around the ribs & spars on the inside faces .
And thats it for now ...I forgot to take some pics of the underside ,but I've more to do there so I'll take some then .
Thanks for looking.
Chris.

I'll get some better pics of the Dive brakes tomorrow ,I was a bit pushed for time when I took them .
