OK, got the right paint for the plane finally! The Vallejo #087 Dark Sea blue was sprayed on thinley over kinda dark #097 Gray Primer. Thought I´ll try lighting up the panels a bit with a think application of more #087 Dark Sea Blue but dont really know exactly how much white I should put in it. 1/72 scale, I´ve read somewhere, should be about 20% white so its two drops white to eight drops of blue. And then thin it 50/50 with Windex.

Any thoughts on this anyone? Some pics of how it looks now!

Thanks Guys! I went with 20% white and 087 blue it came out a little light. But I think the clearcoat and the wash will take care of that. One thing is clear: I need to practice my pre-shading how to put on the colors following that. And practicing with my airbrush making thin lines. Or get a better one instead of the china-copy I got now!

Hey Dangerousdave, The blue looks good. I tried to model a corsair for he Navy GB - and had some troubles trying to get a good blue. I actually noted your match in my modelling notes. Thanks.

I'll keep following along with your build thread.

I gotta be honest with you Dave....I think your preshade looks great!  Very accurate shooting.  I too think the blue is a winner!

Very nice.  I have not tried the -4 from Academy but I can tell you that nailing the Gloss Sea Blue is very, very difficult.  I have tried it twice and I don't think I have yet got it.

But that's the fun right?

Keep at it!

Allright! got the paint in the mail and re-did it. Also put on some lighter paint here and there to simulate touchups during it´s life. Got the wheel wells masked up and painted and finally assembled the whole thing!

A coat of future closed the deal and now on to decals!

Love the color on that Corsair. By this point you should start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
