Throw together LAV-25

Hi Guys!
I've slapped this old kit together in about four evenings this week. I've had it on the shelf for 14 years and it was old when I got it! Completely OOB (except for fishing line antenna), no filler at all, a bit of mild clean up and wham bam. She's going in for primer tonight after dinner. Nice to be building!!

My favorite part of the post.
I love to read when people actually get dug in and just build.
Next comes the fun part.

Hi Guys,
Scott and Ken: Yep, sometimes a quick, down and dirty gets the juices flowing again.
T: Splashdown has occurred!
Broke out my 20 year old AB tonight and played around. Another 2 or 3 hours tommorow and this one can be put back on the shelf, without a box around it!!
Thanks for looking Guys!

Hey, thanks for the great comments Guys!!
Life really got in the way this week! Small update. As promised, a generous coat of mud! I made the mud by mixing gel medium, MM acrylic paint, model railway ballast and water. Also, after the initial slathering on the underside and wheels, I used a technique that I learned from Ken (Scalemodelmadman) on the upper. It's a cool little technique to make mud splatter. It involves using the airbrush to blow air only at a tiny drop of paint on a toothpick or similar to make a random splatter. If you see this Ken, a link would be great for everyone! In my usual ham handed manner, I'm sure I over did it but had some practice at it and gained some experience. Anyhow, here's some pics. These boys have definitely been runnin' the ditches!!
Thanks a lot for looking Guys!

I'd have to agree with Norm, that amount of mud looks pretty normal for a springtime exercise in Wainwright!
I've heard of mixing the mud on a piece of cardboard and using the spring action of a stiff brush against the edge of the cardboard to 'fling' mud onto models as well. Does anybody flick paint/mud with an old toothbrush or nail scrubber to weather their models for these types of effects to any degree of success?
