I know what you mean, Scratchy. I've seen your Star Destroyer thread at SSM

I used a .035" small piece of styrene.  With the use of a heat gun, shop vacuum, a plastic closet wall fixture for a dowel... I vacuum formed the dish (I actually formed six pieces and picked the best one).

I then used my circle cutter and cut the dish out as well as the ring, as shown in the first pic, to raise the brim just a wee bit.

Great idea. I like the dish. The original part is to thick and lousy detailed.

It's nice to actually work on a kit, not having to build something from the ground up.

Thanks Java!

Yeah, all in all, it's a nice little kit.... but it just needs some modifications.

Thank you for the kind words. ;D

Here's the finished master of the engine vent that I plan to replace on my build.  Once cast I'll add the screen and finish the vents with some additional detailing.

Nice detailing, Scratchy.
You certainly like to pack it into your builds

Thanks Scott.

Here's another update.  I plan to have the cockpit window frame similar to the Studio Scale Falcon,.... open, with no clear parts.  This way it would be easy to view the details in the cockpit without any glare..... and trust me.... there will be details ;D

I cut the small plastic ring from a piece of .030" styrene,.... which is the same thickness of the bottom half of the cockpit that came with the kit.  I plan to make this mod so that it just sits on the existing part, replacing the clear piece that was supplied with the kit.

The second and third pics show the ring, cut out, and placed on the clear piece and bottom piece of the cockpit for a size reference.

As in all things having the proper tools is essential....along with appreciable experience,
