Nice technique! I especially liked the splattering with the airbrush. Thanks for taking the time to make this. I have a 1/35 Willys in process and look forward to trying this method out.

Ydeah, great vid. You can be sure I'll be splattering everthing.

I use the isopropyl stuff as thinner for Tamiya Paint too. Works like a dream.

And did I mention it's cheap!

LOL.

Seriously though, MIG fixer is what, $12.00 for 75ml?  :o

Yeah... pass.

Not to mention, I have some rubbing alcohol right there at my bench when I gash myself with an exacto blade.

Yeh that's retarded expensive.  I use water/future/matte varnish too to vary effect.

Great Video!!!!! looking forward to getting some pigments and trying it out. Onr question though, where the pigment is applied heavier, do you use a sealer of somekind to keep it in place?

The pigments contain a binder, so they stay put on their own. Unless of course you go at them with a short bristled brush of course.  ;)

Not to rain on your Parade there..SCOTT !

but be careful when using alcohol for thinner....    although you might think its the Cat's A$$ !!  But your paint actually dry a lot quicker....   so quick even....  they might not bound to your plastic !
by landing on the surface.... already died !!!   rough finish ??  flaky ??
or even worse...  start curing in your Airbrush ?

I am not saying DON'T do it !!! just keep an eye on it !   With the stupid weather we have been having....  you might find that you have to keep a Wet Q tip or Stiff brush next to your Airbrush to wet the Needle and take away the Crud that's drying on the needle tip....

I'm sure some of you know what I mean !!!

Take care all !

oh and YES.... I'll be trying that Spattering tip.... on the next Tank I build !!!  just to see what I get out of it !

Thanks Cliff, I am always working on different videos of lots of techniques, I post them as they get assembled and edited into usable material. Sometimes that takes longer than I'd like but I will get them all up some day.

Thanks for the heads up Norm. I have experience the paint hitting the kit kinda dry before.
I tend to mix really thin and it seems to work fine. I would say at least 50/50, or even 40 paint 60 thinner.

I've been using the real stuff (Tamiya thinner) to paint the Spitfire, with good results.
