Build a box diorama (cube shaped of course) with an open side modelled on the borg viewscreen and mount the Federation ships flying towards the screen. You can mount ships from the rear of the box or on acrylic rods to simulate phaser fire coming towards the screen.

OH, something bugged me about this and I figured out why.  Borg's don't have view screens like a starship does.  They just use monitors from a console.  Viewscreen on a starship is like the concept of a window and actually is one if I remember correctly with built in cool monitoring capability. A good example would have been when they crashed the saucer section of the Enterprise D in Generations.  They were going through the rubble and the Viewscreen is actually a crashed up big old window.  And in some episodes when a starship explodes, you sometimes see the viewscreen imploding into the bridge like a window.

I need to dig out my tech manual if I can still find it.  It has all that cool stuff in there about how starships are designed. lol

Normally... But...

"Borg cubes were equipped with special viewscreen technology, projecting images onto a free-floating cube-shaped viewer somewhere within the ship. Such a viewer was utilized by Locutus of Borg during the Borg incursion into Sector 001 in 2367. (TNG: "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II"; DS9: "Emissary")"

Ah, yeh but it's still a free floating screen from within the cube. :)  I reread what you wrote and I think I misunderstood your suggestion.

I imagined it as two perspective view dio.  Like a visual effect. If you look at the dio as a whole you'll see the whole thing as if it were a dio depicting a battle. But if you bend down and looking from the inside perspective and look through "view screen" you see those same models but the effect is as if looking through the screen.

But I think you meant the whole dio is a build up of the perspective of just looking from inside on the screen and the actual models are part of what's going on in the view screen. I dunno if I'm making any sense. lol

Would work for a forced perspective dio.

Have a 1/35 Borg and surrounding ship looking through the screen at the ships attacking outside.....and they would be various 1/2500 Star Trek ships.................

I kind of imagined it as a studio scale Borg cube with one transparent face that replicated the viewscreen / monitor, with the ships mounted inside flying towards the transparent face. There could be damaged holes on the outside surface of the cube giving other views of the ships that caused them.

Borg'e-eye-yiew so to speak.

It would be quite strange because you would be seeing the fleet inside the cube when they are actually outside, and the holes would be outside with a view from inside but it should look pretty cool and allow a lot of scope for lighting. You could even light the starfield.

Jingles.

OH! Ok then I did misunderstand at first.  It would be cool but I want to depict the space battle rather than put much emphasis on the borg.  I love the borg as a overall nemisis, I'm just not so hot on a single borg drone. A drone is quite boring and ugly.  Not like say, the Hirogen's or Jem'Hadar's who are ugly but exciting.

My favorite nemises would be something like the Dominion, or Hirogen's or Krenim or even better, Species 8472.  I mean for a race that strive for perfection, they seem to always get outwitted by the imperfect humans, so the borg kinda loses it's luster after a while. But every time they get into a space battle with the borg, the Federation get's decimated and it's cool to see all those star ships get wiped out as if they had any chance.  The Borg is interesting to me in that it's a force that puts the Federation as an underdog for once and not to mention set them up for an unmatched war against the Dominion.

If the Battle of Wolf 359 and the Battle of Sector 001 never happened, I doubt the Dominion had any chance of just walking over the Federation as they did and would have never had giving Sisko and the Federation a chance to put together the Second fleet and rob us of watching a gigantic fleet of the Federation, Klingons and Romulans go into an all out war with the Dominion.

Ah the memories. lol

I wouldn't mind tackling something like what you suggested next time though.

I read that as "Have a 1/35 Borg Ship..." and thought you were crazy. But again, I think I may try that next time. :)

Crazy is good. Great brainstorming here. Really cool. I know ziltch about Trek.

As for me. I'm leaning towards Iron Man shooting the tank in a forced perspective box diorama. Not sure how I'd handle the sky in a box but some lighting and clear plastic could work - print the sky on the plastic or something.

I'll have Docking Bay 94 for the winter. It's a biggy.

Went thru 10 years of SCAHMS coverage because I thought there was a sky box in there somewhere. Didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but found these...

Appears to be a painted background with light incomming from one side.

Not sure about this one. Light thru painted plastic maybe?

THis one looks like a photograph or poster maybe.

And just because I found it...

Don't forget the Norway Class  ;) (also available from the Starship Modeler Store) IMO it's also worth it to get the available upgrade/detail decal sets for the ships.

This is an awesome build!  I can't wait to see it come together.

It is a good movie too.  I was actually named after Zefram Cochrane.

Thanks for the airbrush videos Dream Knight.  There were very informative.

A very ambitious project.  Hows it coming along?  I have followed S.Trek for years and look forward to seeing it as it progresses.
