Jedi Master Yoda
« on: Thu Oct, 05, 2017, 11:40:PM »
All right, next work on the bench is the Bandai 1/6 and 1/12 scale Jedi Master Yoda kit.

Given that there are two figures included, there is a LOT of plastic to work with

The 1/12 scale Yoda is, essentially, a miniature. He cannot be posed in any way.
So, assembly went fairly quickly here

Now, for the larger version, there was a bit more involved in putting him together.
There were two head options, two eye position options, a couple of different hands, lightsaber or cane.

I decided to go with a more 'battle ready' version of the Jedi Master, with the full head of hair and the eyes looking to the side.
Like with his smaller version, things went together fairly well, and fairly quickly.
Problem came with the material they used for the lower part of his outer robe. It didn't want to hold in place for crap

All right, for the smaller Yoda, I gave his robe a brown wash, followed by a black one over the bare kit plastic, and then wiped off the excess.
His under tunic was then picked out with a second, heavier, black wash
His nails were painted using a custom mix akin to ivory.
His skin was given a wash using the bottled Testors green wash.
His eyes were done using the sticker versions from the decal sheet.

On the larger Yoda, I used the same treatment for his skin and nails that I used on the smaller one.
His robes were given a black wash with the excess wiped off.
To solve the problem with his lower robe, I used some plastictack to hold it in place.
The details on his lightsaber were picked out by hand in silver

Wow, love this kit and how it turned out. Great work, Q!
Wash applied over the robe does especially add a lot to the textile texture greatly molded by Bandai.
Thumbs up!

Thanks very much, guys.

Solander,
Without the wash, it looked very much like a toy or statue. Needed to do something about it.

I like the solemn Empire Strikes Back Yoda and wish that they had released it in a larger scale instead of the goofy Episode II: Big Trouble In Little China version of Yoda.

I admit wishing they'd included a more 'serene' head for the larger version. But, we have what Disney approved

Both turned out great! I bet someone makes 1:6 beer mugs.... I'm just sayin'- "angry drunk Yoda" is just as cool as Jedi Master Yoda...and probably more formidable.

I'd love to see you build up a Sith version in black robes with those yellow-red eyes...
