New A-wing!!!
« on: Fri Sep, 01, 2017, 05:58:PM »
Just ordered this from Target guys!  It looks very promising.  It looks like about 9 inches long from Revell build and play.

Picked up one today.
Looks decent enough. Only HUGE problem is the lack of gear doors, and the openings in the bottoms of the guns.
It has a pilot, and looks to be almost 1/32 scale based on said pilot

Appreciate it. I have another reason for contemplating buying it.

Bottom of the ship needs paint, too

Supposedly it is 1/44 scale based on Revell's website. If so, then it should be large enough to display with the old MPC X-wing and things like the Di Agostini Falcon (for those lucky enough to have one). But then again, they have posted scales that are off compared to the figure sizes before (like listing the large tie as 1/57, but having a figure in it that is more like 1/40)

For the most part it looks good. Disappointed with the hollow bottom halves on the gun barrels.

Since Bandai is unlikely to produce a kit larger than 1/72 for it I will be picking it up though.

1/44 might be close, I'm still leaning closer to about 1/40, at least on the pilot.

Very good point about the size there

Ive finally got some time to start this new "Build and play" Revell A-wing.
Its going to need a lot of TLC so here it goes.

First I started off filling the empty parts of the guns with some 2 part resin.  Haven't quite decided on how to finish them off yet.

The canopy and windscreen are pretty milky looking so I tried to buff them up a bit with some 3M paste polish.  not much better.....

Added some landing gear doors and a few fastener indents.  I also thinned up the leading edge of the fuselage.  The way its made the front is very blunt and Id rather make mine quite a bit more streamlined or sharper.  Maybe not accurate but looks better to me.

Thanks for looking
