« on: Wed Jun, 07, 2017, 01:31:AM »

   3 Minute Build

                       3 Dollar Kit

   Added 1.5 mm brass rod for support instead of the kit's base  ( hull drilled and rod affixed with CA gel )
        Filled the cavity with acrylic plastic putty :

      Built base from piece of PVC pipe filled with nutz and Aves EpoxySculpt

      .... .  Primer with Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and top-coat tomorrow  -

      Ship with brass rod                      9.7 grams
      Base without epoxy                   26.9 grams
      Completed base                         33.3 grams   ( pretty cool )

      Build without coatings                43 grams

      Completed build with coatings          ???

  ---  I don't know any of these ships .
             It's wicked-cool indeed .

    I guess it's  Deusula  -->   http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/deusulamodel/
         I Google Image searched it yesterday and the page I used had the other spelling   ,,,  :P

    The stand is primer'd  ,    about to prime the plastic

     ........ Hmmmm   ,   --> http://www.toyarena.com/product_info.php/star-blazers-2199-1400-mecha-collection-dessula-space-battleship-yamato-model-kit-p-10451

    Maybe a Japanese speaker can tell us the correct spelling for the ship's name   -- and any other info too    ;)

  Stand primer'd with the  RustOleum  sandable primer  ,  since it will be flat black and to conserve the  Tamiya  lacquer primer :

 . .. I removed a tiny amount of the  Aves atop the base to flatten it  ,   and it weighed the same after the gray primer .
               The  Tamiya  primer added .5 gram

   CURRENT      EARTH      MASS      43.5  GRAMS          or         ONE-POINT FIVE,FIVE  OUNCES

  I used the Createx  paints  , left to right  ,    first the Detail Cobalt  as a base then the blue mixed with a tiny amount of the jet black in areas  .
  It was too light overall so I sprayed it with a mix of the  AK Ultra Matt  and a dab of Payne's Grey watercolor .
   ...  then some black watercolor for panel lines / shadows   ---   still needs clear-coat   ,,, probably satin  , I'll need to order some .

  Truer color  ,,  with i-pad from a few feet away  :

   On to the details   . . .  not too much color  .  This thing needs to look sinister   8)

   ;D   Yeah , man  -- these little kits are great  .
                              I got an assortment of them from  HLJ  , like 2.50 a piece  on average .

       I can't find much on this thing , yet  -- no animation and not many pix    :P

       Painted whatever is going on with these brights  ,
          That pearl as a base  :

       Then shot in low light with this dim-wit camera in the night mode  ,
             Cool , cartoonish effect   -    almost look like LED action   ;D

     ....  Guess I can paint the stand now   ,    probably help a little  .
     Definitely worth the 3 bucks in material  ,  ,,  well maybe 4.20    ;D
