What we have here is both a followup to the earlier Propsaber Hilts build and a reason why I haven't gotten anything done on the Excalibur redo for over a month.
In short, I have been working on cosplay armor for a convention.
The main materials used here are EVA foam play floor pieces from a big box hardware store, and thinner craft foam from a craft store.
Strapping and clips were also purchased at the craft store.
A LOT of the techniques were picked up on YouTube
Start by cutting the needed main pieces after taking some measurements.
These were shaped with a heat gun.
The forearm cuffs
The pieces for the backs of my hands and tops of my feet
The main pieces for my lower legs
Banding for the clips was glued to the main pieces with hot glue
Clips were installed to aid in putting on the armor.
Detail pieces were added with craft foam
Next up was the piece for around my neck and shoulders.
This one was deliberately made in sections
After forming the pieces, I glued the sections with strips of craft foam
I also added some craft foam for detailing on some of the pieces.
The center piece is intended to be removable so I can get it around my neck.
The sections were then given a coat os "PlastiDip" to seal the foam before primer
After a coat of black primer, they were painted over with Testors Graphite Dust lacquer
Using a black Jedi costume I'd picked up online, here's the completed look.
