STAR WARS STRIKE CRUISER/ 1:2256th
« on: Sat Mar, 11, 2017, 03:14:PM »

Utar Ships let me buy this advance cast of his latest kit offering: the Strike Class in 2256th scale!

I've taken the parts and given them a thin enamel wash to highlight the GREAT details Utar crammed into this kit.
Tonight, I'll do some clean up on the parts and and see about taking pics of a test-fitting tomorrow.

Though it's all nicely detailed and a perfect match for most references online, the bridge really shines- it looks like it'd be great for all sorts of customs and scrarchbuilds- I'm hoping to buy a couple more from Utar to enhance some other builds I have planned.
(Hopefully, I'll get decent pics of the bridge tomorrow!)

As with all my builds, I plan on adding custom decals, added weapons, radar/sensor arrays etc.

Should make for a fun challenge!

Any suggestions on color scheme?

I just scored some goodies off Shapeways on this scale- three Hammerhead transports and a squadron of U-Wings (so tiny!).
I'll have a mix of smaller ships flying escort to highlight the large size of the cruiser.

Assembly completed and (after this pic was taken) primered.

Tomorrow I'll  start adding all the mods I have planned- mostly weapons and a sensor dish.

I think it's about 7.5-8" long.
Gotta find a ruler and give you the exact details.
The details on this are just incredible- I usually super-detail stuff in this scale, but there's no need here.

But I'm still adding a ton of goodies: the challenge being to keep the overall look- not to get too crazy like I usually do bu adding fins or extra engines whatever.

I bought three Hammerhead corvettes to escort this, so this will be like four builds on one thread.
I plan on having the Strike Cruiser, Hammerheads and some fighters all on one display base as the final piece.

Having an entire fleet in that scale is cool. This looks good. Haven't seen that one before.

I got my teeth into the Strike and I'm slowly layering on decals and extra detail parts as I go.
I had to pack everything away in plastic bins when we had Hurricane Irma threaten, and one of the thinner engines got crushed....
So I used a Venator  engine of the same diameter and added engine bells to the main engines while I was at it.

I'm also going to add a LOT of firepower- you can already see the new AA batteries midships, but the rest will ho on after the hull panels are complete.

As always, the paintwork starts off bright and cheery, but once decals, oil wash and Dullcoat are applied, that'll tone waaaay down.
