Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer
« on: Sat Dec, 30, 2017, 04:57:PM »
Quick little build to finish out 2017.
Working with the Revell 'Build N Play' Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter in roughly 1/70 scale

There are a good number of parts, and they are fairly well detailed for a snap kit. Panel lines may be a little deep, though.

Build time was about twenty minutes, all told.
Kit goes together fairly well, with no really huge seams.
You do need to decide on filling the battery pack and the speaker grill. For me, I decided to just build it up and give it a black wash to bring out the details

Just for fun, I took a pic with the Bandai 1/72 TIE Advanced that belonged to his grandfather.
I think Kylo may be compensating a bit....

Sweet!  That looks amazingly awesome for a snapper.  Methinks I need to learn the ways of the wash now. ;)

Glad you liked it, Eric.
Washes can be VERY useful

Looks great. The design is growing on me

I think I will need to pick one of these up. I'm doubtful that Bandai will release one

thanks for the comparison shot as well

Thanks
I have a feeling they might, blakeh1. Just may take them a bit to get to it.
In the mean time, it's still a decent little kit

Looks great for a snap kit- but the black button and the obvious hinge for the cockpit need some love to look less toy-like.

From the movie, I had no idea the ship was so HUGE!
Overcompensating indeed!

Jason, were I to do this one as a more serious model build, I'd likely deal with that, as well as the seams around the battery box.
This was for fun.

Thanks, John

That's the beauty of such models- you could always strip it and repaint it years later if you want.
