thanks guys

Here they are with the ships, sorry its a bit blurry. Hard to get that depth of field and keep everything in focus. I should try the image stacking technique

I finished Shinohara's Falcon. Also painted up the Kodai figure since his Cosmo Zero is next up on the bench

I couldn't seem to get a totally crisp pic of the small figures

I love this angle for the fighter. Looks very predatory

The downside to the kit, is the front part near the cockpit does not fit very well and leaves large noticeable gaps. I tried filling that with Squaron Putty, but from handling it, the putty has actually come out of the gaps. I guess that's what I get for not gluing the pieces and just relying in the filler to hold. The problem was, gluing them would cause fit problem later since they need a little flex to put some other pieces on.

It could also be that since the Bandai plastic is a bit different, normal styrene stuff doesn't not stick as well

I am planning on painting a vanilla version (Same blue and yellow, but without the shark mouth and white accents on the side thrusters instead of black and no black markings on the wings or tail fin)

With that one I will assemble it all first, , then glue the front, then putty. Maybe I'll use greenstuff instead to fill the gaps instead of Squadron putty.

And finally, in formation on my desk at work ;D

Definitely liking how those are turning out

Judging by the figure painting  I assume you are no more than 5 inches tall yourself ,  Blakeh1      ;)
Most Impressive .

thanks guys!

Being able to shrink to 5" tall would sure help me improve painting those figures!

I spent most of my hobby life painting wargaming miniatures so I just approached these the same way. These were just a little smaller and more difficult to get as crisp looking as I wanted

I used to be able to paint without aid, but in the past year or so I've had to start using reading glasses when painting

Much easier to paint them life size and shrink them down.  ;D  Although, that technique does use a lot more paint.  :P

Impressive work all around.

Looking back at some of the 1/72 figures I painted as a kid...  can't do that anymore with out significant magnification.

Woah. Fantastic work on those pilots!

Those pilots ARE. INCREDIBLE.

Dude! I need you to build some 1:2256 scale Star Wars ships- you've certainly got the eye for details on small subjects and your airbrush game is SO on-point for larger builds!

Come with me....and we can rule the (scale) galaxy....

You've done such a fantastic job on the figures that I hope I can do the same whenever I get around to building all four of mine.

I do have a couple unbuilt 1/2256 Star Wars subjects (Revell Venator, and Republic Cruiser) as well as the 1/2700 Star Destroyer

I love the stuff I have seen you do

Thanks! High praise coming from you!
I'd love to see you tackle the Venator- but if you want something smaller to warm up with (and act as an escort), here's some of the best ships in this scale-
https://sites.google.com/site/utarships/2256-scale-ships

You should get a smaller kit and get into the SW Group Build- there's still over two months left!

Hmmm...I wonder if any Yamato 2199 kits work for 1:2256th scale?  The Yamato mechanical kit looks pretty "right".

Those are some cool ships!

The Yamato line has started a 1/2000 scale line-up
they also have a few older models that are in the 1/2500 range

For the 1/72 fighters,  I finished Kodai's Alpha 1 Zero right before the new year and finally got some pics

This is the last of the 4 variants, although I do have a second kit of this one that I am going to build up in the folded up wings landed configuration

I used a different weapon load/fuel tank configuration than the Alpha 2 zero

The Alpha 1 Zero is one sexy beast but I desperately want some modeler to do a 1:72 Cozmo Zero/X-Wing mashup- putting three X-Wing cannons on the Zero's three wingtips and painting it in Rogue Squadron chipped paint...maybe adding R2 between the back of the cockpit and the dorsal wing.....
