Lead Wire source for detailing
« on: Sun Jul, 19, 2015, 07:43:PM »
I just picked up this tip, and I thought I would share the wealth. Rather than buying lead wire from modelling retailers for $$$, you can buy spools of it from Cabelas.ca in their fishing: fly-tying materials section. It's used as an alternative thread for winding and bulking up flys.
The spools come in five different gauges (0.010 to 0.030), have 100 to 200 turns of wire each, and are just $3 a spool.  ;D

Yup, got some via the interwebs. Great stuff and waaay cheaper than 'specialty' products.

Agreed. FWIW -- I got my spools from Bass Pro Shops.  ;)
