VacForm Model Kits - HELP!
« on: Fri Jul, 17, 2015, 09:49:AM »

Afternoon all,

I wonder if anyone can help please?

I'm looking to build a Blackburn Beverley 1/72 scale for my dad and his 70th Birthday.

He spent the majority of his career in the RAF flying in these and I want to build on in 30 Squadron for him.

My problem is, I have no idea how to work / use Vacuum form model kits.

Are they difficult to work with?

Any hints/tips that anyone can give please?

This is the potential Kit - http://www.sangereng.fsnet.co.uk/

Thanks all

They are totally different thing than the standard kits. Different way off preparing parts, totally different way of assembly and rather time consuming. If you decide to go with Vacuform kit please make WIP thread I'm sure there will be some people that will help you. I will throw my 2 cents also :)

By the way here is KubuĊ› armored car that I did last year for BSC. This kit was also Vacuformed.http://www.bishop-miniatures.blogspot.com/2014/06/warsaw-uprising-135.html

Thanks overdose,

From the looks of the kit, I would image that there would be a lot of internal re-enforcement and lots of filler?

There's also a resin kit of the Beverley, it's three times the price.....decisions....

Well it all depands on the quality of the resin and Vacume kits. The build is diffrent but not undoable ;)

Its basically like building some resin kits. Most times there's not attachment points. You just have to measure, cut, brace (sometimes) and glue. The obvious difference is the material. I would give it a go. Just take your time. Good luck if you try it.  ;D
